IANR Sponsor Highlight

The University of Nebraska Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) at UNL has been a cornerstone of agricultural innovation and education since its inception in 1973. Enacted through LB149, this legislative move underscored the vital role of agriculture in Nebraska's economy and its impact on the state's overall success. IANR is a Statewide Sponsor of The Combine, an Agtech Startup Incubator.

A Mission for Excellence

IANR is a dynamic entity comprising the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR), the Agricultural Research Division (ARD), and Nebraska Extension. This trifecta of components forms the backbone of Nebraska's leadership in food production, environmental stewardship, human nutrition, business development, and youth engagement.

CASNR: Preparing Tomorrow's Leaders

The College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) stands out as a hub for comprehensive education. From animals to plants, soil to climate, and golf to business, CASNR prepares students for diverse careers. Focusing on developing food, fuel, water, and landscape systems ensures that students are equipped for successful careers and a lifetime of informed decision-making.

ARD: Pioneering Agricultural Research

The Agricultural Research Division (ARD) conducts vital agricultural research in Nebraska. With scientists engaged in approximately 300 research projects, the ARD ensures that cutting-edge discoveries swiftly move from the field or laboratory into classrooms and communities across the state.

Nebraska Extension: Bridging Research and Practice

Nebraska Extension plays a crucial role in delivering research-based knowledge directly applicable to the lives of Nebraskans. Focused on key areas such as animal agriculture, crops, youth development, entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability, Extension impacts over 144,000 Nebraska youth through its 4-H program.

A Global Perspective for a Global Impact

As a 21st-century land-grant institution, IANR has embraced a comprehensive internationalization strategy. This involves integrating global perspectives into education, research, and extension activities. By preparing students for a globally interconnected world and engaging faculty in collaborative efforts addressing global challenges, IANR has positioned itself as Nebraska's strong international economic development partner.
